Resurrection

Cool breeze, over the ocean,

She raises, bright on the horizon!

Nightly flowers, budding in gloom,

Petals quietly, unfurling bloom!

She glimmered, in auburn rays,

Beyond the oceans, I gaze;

Buried my love, in the darkest sky,

Well beyond the reach, ‘d human eye!

In a whiff, she floated around,

Like the mist, in a jungle surround!

Icy breath subsumed, peck on my cheek!

Goosebumps, on my nape ‘d neck!!

Courage subdued, left in lurch!

Found myself, a crypt in church!!

Bludgeoning nails, opened the casket!

She, like a baby in a wicker basket!!

Blood dripped, through my fingers!

Spilled on her pale lips on a winter;

She blushed, her cheeks rosy!

Woke up from slumber, a little lazy!

Attired in white, her lips turned pink!

We embraced, time to go, she blinked!!

Humming, a ballad was read,

Souls entwined, our bodies shed!

St Peter’s, waiting in heaven!

Finally, we skimmed over the ocean,

Towards, brightest star of the galaxy!

Blessed aren’t we ? under Gods own canopy !!

  1. Hello Srikanth Maama, I truly enjoyed the poem- Resurrection. The poet with its many twists is a treat to read!
    It begins with a calm moment about flowers blooming. There is a hint of sadness but not much. Then it goes on to describe the poet’s lady love.

    Another twist – she is dead.

    Yet another twist – resurrection. Our hearts fill with joy

    This line is the ultimate 👌- “ Souls entwined, our bodies shed!” So, now the reader realizes that both poet and his lady love have left the world- both! – resurrection for both?
